The Hills

I've made no secret of the fact that I think Adam Hills is a funny man. Among other things.

When it comes to my comedians, I prefer a show that involves telling stories and funny anecdotes, usually fairly upbeat. I'm not a fan of people who rely almost solely on snappy, and not-so-snappy, puns and one-liners (Mr. Vine, anyone?), or discuss their bodily functions in a dour voice with a sour face (not looking at you, Ms. Lucy), or shouting at audience members while ridiculing them (Mr. Byrne, if you please?). Sure, plenty of people like these types of humour, and that's fine. I'm just not one of them. That's the beauty of free speech.

I went to Adam's show "Inflatable" last night. I laughed so hard I cried in places. But don't you hate it when you hear a joke and think "that's gold, I'm going to remember that" only to find that, 5 minutes later, it's completely left your mind? There were two jokes last night that I thought "yep, I'm going to remember that, try to use it some time" and, for the life of me, I can't remember the first one. It is S O F R U S T R A T I N G. The second was a reference to Starbucks coffee (it was funny cos it's true), but that first one.... arg! It was... something about... something...

Adam's almost finished his Comedy Festival appearances, so do yourself a favour, go see him if you can get a ticket.

And do me a favour - remember all the best bits and run them by me again, so I can hopefully remember that other joke I loved so much.
